MINUTES of the Parish Council meeting held on MONDAY 18th JULY, 2011 at 6.30pm in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Market Warsop.

Present: Cllrs. S. Moody (Chairman), J. Kerr, (Mansfield District Councillor), J. Allin (Nottinghamshire County Councillor), Cllr. D. Priest, H. Kochanowski, K. Smith, M. Cunliffe and Margaret Needham

8639. DECLARATIONS BY MEMBERS OF PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTEREST - The Chairman drew the attention of Members to declare any personal or prejudicial interests related to agenda items.

8640. APPOINTMENT OF REPRESENTATIVES – additions - see separate list.

8641. MINUTES OF PARISH COUNCIL MEETING - The minutes of the last Parish Council on MONDAY 20th JUNE, 2011 were accepted as a true record.

8642. CRIME AND DISORDER - Inspector Mark Webster attended the meeting and spoke of his new role at Mansfield Woodhouse in place of Inspector Sam Wilson. He updated everyone about the JCB incident with the cemetery and told the meeting that the person was arrested and is now in prison awaiting trial. He spoke about motorbike nuisance, one off-road bike has been seized and the situation is being monitored. Theft of metal items from people’s gardens is an issue due to scrap metal being at a premier, Cllr. Allin reported that pipe had been stolen from 14 High St, The Talbot and some lead from St. Teresa’s Church. Mark told members he had visited the Carnival and congratulated the Carnival Committee on a very successful day.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – As there was no public wanting to speak, The Chairman didn’t close the meeting.

8643 PLANNING & APPLICATIONS
a. Manor Barn, Sookholme Road – 2 new openings
b. Plough Inn – Smoking shelter to rear
c. 53 Sherwood St – replace existing extension with larger one
d. The Rectory – Remove 1 tree

8644. WARSOP TOWN HALL – Cllr. Kochanowski gave an update stating that
The Clerk has contacted IFT for a quote, for a new flag pole. The Clerk read out a letter from Claire Armstrong, great grand daughter to Sergeant Robert James Bye VC who’s picture was presented to the Parish Council by the Royal British Legion last year to hang in the Town Hall. Now the Council Chamber has been decorated it was agreed to hang it underneath the picture of Harrop White and invite Claire to officially unveil it and feature it in Warsop News. The Clerk told members about the Workclub launch in the Town Hall on Friday 22nd July 12-4pm all councillors are most welcome. Cllr. Allin will give a short speech on behalf of the Parish Council.

8645. MEDEN BATHS – The contracts have gone out to tender for MDC’s leisure facilities and select 1 & 3 will looking at them in August. The SOS group are still active and had a stand at the Carnival.

8646. BIG LOTTERY – A few members of the steering group visited Sutton-on-sea on a fact finding mission to find out what the other groups have achieved and to deliver our story do far. The Clerk said it was very informative and interesting to talk to other groups that are also being awarded £1 million.

8647. CARNIVAL – A fantastic day attracting over 10,000 visitors. The day ran smooth, the weather was brilliant. There will be a 4 page souvenir pull out in the August edition of W&DN. The Chairman commented that the decision to make it a one day event was the right the decision and hoped the committee would continue with it. He gave thanks to the Carnival Committee for all their hard work and all the volunteers on the day. He also thanked everyone who supported the day.

8648. THE CARRS – Cllr. Kerr reported on the Friends of the Carrs AGM, Pam Johnson has been elected as Chair, Dennis Wright as Vice-Chair and they now have new members on the committee. It is hoped the dredging will be completed by January, the next meeting will be held in the Hare & Hounds at 7.30pm on Tuesday 2nd August, everyone is welcome.

8649. SKATEPARK – Cllr. Kerr reported that MDC will fix the ramps one last time as it is continually being vandalised, the cost of the repairs is £2,500. If it vandalised again it will be closed permanently. There will be an article on the front page of W&DN written by Tessa our Junior Correspondent with photos showing the state of the vandalised ramps.

8650. WARSOP AND DISTRICT NEWS – Tania and Karen have made the decision to bite the bullet and publish a September edition. Although Tania will be on annual leave, Karen will work with Halina. They are also thinking about the possibility of a January edition.

8651. CONNIE CLUB CAR PARK – Cllrs. Crawford & Kerr will visit the businesses after their holidays and report at the next meeting.

8652. TESCO – Still waiting for it to be submitted to planning.

8655. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL – Cllr. Allin reported that the new pedestrian crossing from Hetts Lane on the A60 should be completed in the next few months. Discussions took place regarding the one-way system on Clumber Street, Cllr. Allin has asked for a site meeting with the planners.

8656. MANSFIELD DISTRICT COUNCIL – Cllr. Kerr told the meeting that the building of the new pavilion has started.
